Obituary

James Gene Matzie passed away Friday morning January 26, 2018 at the age of 74 with family at his side. James was known as "Lucky" by all who knew him.


Lucky was born in Los Angeles on the eighth day of December 1943. He was the fifth born of six children to Fred and Mary Matzie. He grew up in Los Angeles where he married his high school sweetheart in 1962. They had three beautiful children together. He settled in Lompoc in 1969.


He is survived by the love of his life Suzanne Matzie, his son James Matzie and fiancée Angela Martin, son Robert Matzie and his wife Lisa Matzie, grandchildren Kyle and Dakotah Matzie, Samantha Delacruz, Jennifer Limas and great-granddaughter Mackenzie, his brother George Matzie, Sister Billie Jo and husband Don Gibas and sister-in-law Barbara Matzie and many nieces and nephews. He is resting in peace now with his beautiful daughter Kellie Ann.


He was a man of many trades and loved by everyone who knew him. One of his favorite quotes was" I love every one of you and there's not a damn thing you can do about it."

A memorial service will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel on February 10, 2018 at 2 pm.  A celebration of his life will be held immediately after the service at The Willows clubhouse.
