James A. Hadlock passed away in his home Friday July 25, 2014. Mr. Hadlock was survived by his wife Charmian, daughter Melinda Hadlock and grandson Kellen Torres.
He was born in New Hampshire and moved to California in 1976 with his family. He was a Chef by trade his entire life, having a note worthy reputation for cooking passionately not only each night for his family but providing over 500 meals per day for the Santa Barbara County Community Action Commission's Senor Nutrition Program. In the early 1990s he was recognized for serving over one million meals for the program. Additionally, alongside his family he spent countless hours volunteering his time cooking and catering special events.
He had a special love of animals, and always had one or more dogs at his side. Mr. Hadlock will be remembered by his family and those who knew him for having a keen sense for truth and lived in an honest way that earned the respect of everyone he encountered. Jim Hadlock made a point to live each day through a particular set of rules and principles that were sure to lead one to success and, most important to him was having a positive mental attitude approach to life.
The family would like to thank Dignity Health Hospice Services and his doctor, Jonathan Berkowitz for the exceptional care he received. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to Meals on Wheels.
