James L. "Jim" Ingalls
(June 15, 1932 - September 29, 2007)
Jim Ingalls of Vandenberg Village passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the age of 75 in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital surrounded by his beloved family.
Jim was born in Harlingen, TX on June 15, 1932 to Charles and Lydia Ingalls. He graduated from the University of Miami in 1954, where he majored in Electrical Engineering. In 1963, Jim married Barbara Reeves. He was employed by General Electric Company working at numerous Minuteman Missile bases. Jim and Barbara moved from Great Falls, MT to Lompoc in 1975. After thirty four years of service, Jim retired in 1990 from GE's Re-entry System as the company's base manager.
Jim loved life, his family, politics, Animal Planet, boating, camping and his dog, Gabby. He was an avid fisherman, whether in the Bahamas, Key West, trolling off Avila Beach, or fly-fishing in Yellowstone. Later in life he renewed his love for athletics, especially tennis. He played at Lompoc and the Village Country Club where he enjoyed challenging his friends. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2274, a recent member of the Village country Club, and a member of local square dancing clubs.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara; son, Alan Ingalls; daughters, Kathy and her husband Dick Valente, Teresa and her husband Duane Yount; brother and sister-in-law, Morrie and Nancy Ingalls; nephews, Brian, Kevin and Steve; nieces Cheri and Susie; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother Wayman Ingalls.
Cremation was requested. A memorial service for Jim will be held at a later date.
