James Harold Jackson was born February 1, 1951, in Edgerton, Virginia to Mercy Lee and Lucy Ruth Jackson.
James served 5 years in the United States Air Force as a Telephone Switching Equipment Repairman. Upon leaving the service, he worked as a CO Switchman for General Telephone and Verizon for 34 years. Retired for the past 9 years, he enjoyed his family, building and racing his RC cars, fishing, and attending auto and motorcycle races throughout California.
James passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2022, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Mercy Lee Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Normalei, and their two sons; Blake and Nicholas, Lompoc, California. His mother, Lucy Jackson, Freeman, Virginia; a sister, Stella Jackson, Chester, New York; three brothers, Eugene (Diane), Glen Allen, Virginia; Mercy, Freeman, Virginia and Michael (Diane), Mt. Vernon, New York, numerous cousins, (grand)nieces and (grand)nephews. Sisters-in-law, Maxine Adams, Waimanalo, Hawaii; Wendy Short, Chaptico, Maryland; Brothers-in-law; David Quimpo, Los Angeles, California and Abraham Bunker, Waimanalo, Hawaii.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 11:00-1:00 at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary followed by lunch and refreshments at the EMV. Burial will be in Freeman, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VIVA (Volunteers for Inter-Valley Animals).
