Obituary

Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

James L. Price of Lompoc, California passed away peacefully at Lompoc Hospital after suffering from Agent Orange and congestive heart failure. James was born in Toledo, OH to George Gabriel and Katherine Price on December 5, 1939. After graduating high school and attending college to accomplish undergraduate and graduate work, James joined the ranks in the United States Army. James served two terms among the brave men in the Vietnam War in the infantry. Post war he switched to accompany the forces in the United States Air Force. James served 23 honorable years in which he accumulated multiple recognitions and awards. The military led James around the world and back to conclude his travels to Vandenberg Air Force Base where he retired from the military and called home.

James was a man of pure talent. He was a skilled artist, vocalist, musician, writer, linguist and intellect. James was an incredible athlete. He participated and led his football, basketball, bowling and golf teams to victory. James earned the title of Golden Gloves of New York after demonstrating impressive boxing skills against his opponents. James enjoyed fishing adventures, reading, learning new things and flying airplanes.

James is most familiar for his hard work ethic and his ability to befriend anyone. James will be forever in the hearts of all who has touched his life.

James is survived by his sister Ester (68), son LaMonte (45), son Juan (37), daughter Jasmine (25) and son Jonathan (23), his grandchildren Joshua, Janae, Jamaicio and J'den Price, and his ex-wife Dimples Price.

Pastor Travis Collins will lead a memorial service on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11 am at the Lompoc Valley Baptist Church, 700 East College. Cremation will be followed by inurnment in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. The arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
