Jane Fulton Van Hagen of Lompoc, passed away on December 13, 2021, at the age of 91.

She was born in 1930 and raised in Chicago and suburbs by her parents Henry Ashley Fulton and Margaret Mary Fulton.  She graduated from The Latin School of Chicago in 1948 and spent two years at Barat College in Lake Forest, Il.  In 1951 she received a secretarial degree at the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Chicago.

Jane was a member of the Junior League of Chicago where she spent many years doing volunteer work throughout the city.

In 1952, Jane married her long-time friend, Dr. Ford Van Hagen, who was finishing medical school at Northwestern University's Chicago campus.  Together they had three children, Ford Van Hagen Jr., Fulton Van Hagen, and daughter Monica Van Hagen Bingham.

Jane was a stay at home mother until her daughter started first grade.  She then started her career as a medical secretary to one of her high school friends, a cardiologist, Dr. Carl G. Leigh.  Ten years later she changed course and worked for Dr. William Kane, Head of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School.

In 1974, Jane and two of her children emigrated west, Jane to Santa Barbara, CA, Fulton to the University of Colorado in Boulder, and Monica to the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.

In 1978, Jane met and partnered with Santa Barbara resident Jack M. Kelly.  They enjoyed travel, camping, and buying and selling antiques.  They moved to Lompoc in 1988.  After Jack passed away Jane worked in retail sales in Solvang until her retirement in 2002.  She spent the remaining years close to her children and friends enjoying life as one does in their retirement years.

She was predeceased by her son Ford Van Hagen Jr., and is survived by her son Fulton Van Hagen, daughter Monica Bingham, son-in-law Phillip Bingham and extended family Patrick Kelly, his children and grandchildren.
