JANICE MAY STOUT
1934 – 2008
"We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by FAITH, your labor prompted by LOVE, and your endurance inspired by HOPE in our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 1:3)
God knew his precious daughter, Jann, loved the Christmas Season! So He brought her home to Heaven at 6:45am on the first day of December. With child-like faith, and no fear, Jann received her best Christmas present ever: Jesus Christ carrying her to Heaven where her loving husband of 51 years, and many others, welcomed her to everlasting Paradise.
Jann lived an incredibly full life touching so many on her 74-year journey to finally meet her beloved God. Born September 21, 1934 in Duluth, Minnesota to Eric & Evelyn Johnson, she came with her parents and older brother Curtis in 1946 to California. Jann graduated from Glendale High School. She married the love of her life, Gene Stout on July 4, 1953. They raised their three children in the quaint hillside community of La Crescenta, California.
Being an influencing and caring parent meant many activities for Jann: PTA President, Cub Scouts, Brownie, & Girl Scout leader, and Air Force Mother's President.
True to their desire to live close to each of their children, they moved to Phoenix, AZ in the 1980's. In 1999 they moved to Lompoc to be with their daughter Carrie and her husband, Terry. It was here that Jann & Gene's personal relationship with Jesus Christ grew even more! Jann attended Lompoc Foursquare Church and one of the many high-lights of her life was to remember the 50th celebration party, where Jonathan Wild sang so beautifully, and to listen to their 50th anniversary CD renewal of vows done by Pastor Bernie Federmann. Jann also remembered the fireworks celebration on July 4, 2003 when Mayor Dick DeWees announced Gene & Jann's 50 years of marriage! Having been married on the 4th of July, it only magnified their love for God and country, and they were able to visit every state capital in all 50 states. After their retirement they continued to travel the world over with their very dear friends, Neal and Terry Long.
On March 15, 2005, Gene went to be with Jesus! Jann had lovingly cared and encouraged him for 10 years after his stroke. Not yet knowing about the synovial sarcoma, Jann decided to move to Macon, Georgia to be near her son, Steve. She was completing her desire to live near each of her children.
Leaving Lompoc in 2007 was very difficult for Jann. She wrote and prayed to God for the courage to leave so many friendships she had been blessed to have. Dr. Dale Ekstrum confirmed the cancer diagnosis and humbly prayed for God to give Jann Joy and strength! God did!
In Macon, Georgia, while encountering many surgeries, doctors, and other wonderful caregivers, Jann still looked for the Joy in life! Besides being with her son, Steve, his wife Beth, and granddaughter, Stephanie, attending Atlanta Braves games and seeing the wonderful area, God planted Jann to live right between two very special ladies, "Aunt" Rose and Caring Carol! Though very short in time, their relationships grew as if adding more beautiful fragrant flowers of friendship to the already huge bouquet Jann held in her heart over the years. Jann knew this kind of fragrant love is what would go to Heaven with her! Jann also found a loving church with a familiar name, the Pastor being Rich DeWees (same name as her Lompoc Mayor!) and she rounded the corner of her journey Home!
God put so many gifts to share inside Jann's heart: Her genuine love for people, her compassion, generosity and amazing creativity that blessed so many. She painted china and used her creativity to make gifts for many! For those that knew Jann's bold, contagious laugh we can trust that she will be a part of God's Holy Spirit JOY Team in Heaven!
Per her humble request, Jann asked for no memorial services. Please continue to remember Jann by being God's ambassadors extending love, grace, mercy and forgiveness to all you encounter!
Jann is survived by her family and many new and long time friends. Her son, Steve Stout and wife, Beth of Macon, GA; daughters, Tracy Williams and husband, Clint of Phoenix, AZ, and Carrie Forster and husband, Terry, of Lompoc, CA; and grandchildren, Brad Rieke and Dale Rieke, Stephanie Stout, and Colton Williams.
Cremation arrangements are by Bridges Mortuary in Gray, Georgia and burial will be at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. "But anyone who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him!" (1 Corinthians 6:17) Merry Christmas Jann!
