Jason A. Borry, long time Lompoc resident, died in his home Thursday of a sudden illness. He was 36.
He was born in Coupeville, WA on September 23, 1972. Jason moved to Lompoc with his family in 1986 and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1991. He served in the US Army in South Korea, East Africa and Fort Drum, New York. Over the past 10 years he cooked in many area resaurants, most recently in Orcutt and Los Olivos.
Jason is survived by his mother Georganna Hawley and step-father Thomas Swan of Fillmore, CA and one sister, Jennifer Anderson of Sylmar, CA, his maternal grandmother Hilda Hawley of Washington, paternal grandmother Louise Borry of New Hampshire, a wide-spread extended family and many, many loving friends. He is pre-deceased by his father Gary Borry.
If the truest measure of a man is the effect he had on others, then Jason's will be his unswerving honesty with himself and everyone around him and his uncompromising loyalty to his friends. He will always be remembered for his fearless cooking, many daring hairstyles, colorful tattoos and a wicked chuckle.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at Patrick's Side Street Café in Los Olivos on Monday, June 15 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Jason's name.
