Jean Marie Morgan Davis was born February 25, 1927, in Oklahoma to Albert and Frances Morgan. She was the eldest of four children; siblings Kaye, Lela Joyce, and Bruce. They grew up in southern California during the Depression years. She met her husband, James, on a blind date while he was stationed with the Army Air Corps, San Diego. They were married when she was 19 and he was 23, and honeymooned in Woodlake, CA. Their first home was in Pico Rivera where they raised three children-Ken, Susan, and Janeece.
Jean was an at-home mom, involved with her children, friends, and church. She taught Sunday School and women's Bible studies, loved music and singing, and worked with Jr. High students. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading, coffee with neighbors, and homemaking.
They moved to Lompoc in 1969 to start a dry-cleaning business, which they co-owned for 18 years. They have been members at Calvary Baptist Church since 1969.
Following retirement, they traveled and worked with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program.
Jean was a woman with a passion for her family and a great love of God. She had a loving heart, a listening ear, and willing hands. She will be missed.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Jim, of 62 years; children Ken (Becky) Davis, Susan (Gordon) Claassen, Janeece (Robb) Northrop; grandchildren Janette (Daniel) Carter, Matthew Davis, Allison Davis, Benjamin (Erin) Claassen, Jacob (Becca) Claassen, Ian Northrop, Seth (Tessi) Northrop, Brooke Northrop; great-grandchildren Andrew, Jonny, and Audrey Claassen, Samantha Davis, and one on the way, Skylar Northrop.
Jean died peacefully at home in the care of her loving husband. Our gratitude to Marian Hospice and faithful caregivers. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Marian Hospice or Calvary Baptist Church where services will be held Sunday, May 4th, 2 pm.
