Obituary

Jeanette Lucille Claycamp passed away on January 3, 2012.

She was born on September 19, 1925 in Amarillo, Texas to Alice Henrietta Harkey Knight & Luther Dorman Knight.

Jeanette married Gerheard (Clay) Claycamp on August 31, 1947.

Jeanette grew up in South Pasadena, and graduated from Hanford High School in 1943.

Jeanette and Clay were partners in Vern's Rambler in Lompoc in the 60's. When the dealership closed Jeanette became office manager at Sunset Chevrolet and later Lompoc Honda.

Jeanette and Clay owned and operated a horse stable, Claycamp Boarding, in Cebada Canyon. Jeanette continued to operate the stable after her husband's death in 2000.

She loved going to Las Vegas, Laughlin, and the Chumash Casino, and would be the first in line for a gambling trip. Jeanette was the life of the party, and made everyone feel at home at ease in her presence. She was always getting a card game started (preferably 21) at one of the many parties she hosted. Jeanette had a quick wit and many friends. She could talk with anyone and more important she listened.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clay, daughter Christie Stanley and son Jerry Claycamp.

She is survived by her sister Mary Ida Phair and her grandchildren Renee Wright, Zak Claycamp (Sara), Dawn Wright, Vance Claycamp (Jennifer), and Brandon Claycamp and 11 great-grandchildren; Colby, Cayden, Kinsley, Khloe, Nolan, Nicholas, Kailey, Jayden, Nash, Journey, and Hannah.

A memorial service will be held at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11am.
