JEANETTE A. (BOLSON) SANFORD
Jeanette A. (Bolson) Sanford, 73, of Vandenberg Village, died following heart surgery in Santa Barbara April 9. Beloved mother of Michele, Robert and Ricky; sister to Joanne Edwards and Donna Yudin, both of New York; with three loving grandchildren and two recent great-grand children. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years CMSgt Robert (Bob) Sanford, (USAF), Jeanette and Bob were residents of the Vandenberg area since 1962.
Although Jeanette was born and raised in Johnson City, New York, she married her high school sweetheart whose U.S. Air Force career soon took them both a world away from the Empire state.
Throughout her life, Jeanette was a consummate homemaker who in very short order could transform austere military quarters into comfortable homes for Bob and their three well-traveled children. She accomplished this countless times, including twice during assignments to Japan in 1957 and 1974. Sister Joanne can verify this, as she visited at more than one posting, including Japan. Tidiness was always a virtue to Jeanette, which may have stemmed from the value she placed in being a supportive and dedicated Air Force wife determined to set a good example for others. Setting the example and treating others with care and respect were hallmarks of their lives together – just ask anyone blessed to have known them.
A memorial service at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lompoc is scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Cunningham officiating.
