Jeffie C. Vordermark was born August 18, 1922 in Sayre Oklahoma, the daughter of John Cannon and Ettie Epps. She was one of 10 children including a twin sister. Jeffie and her twin sister graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing after which they entered the Army cadet nurse program in Dallas, Texas. Both were commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Army Nurse Corps and sent to India in 1945, remaining there until the end of the war with Japan in World War II. Jeffie married her husband in February 1948 after which she gave up nursing for a time to raise her children. Since her husband was in the Army she naturally followed him to various duty stations which included Hawaii, Germany, and the Pentagon. She had three children, two sons and a daughter. When her husband retired from the military they moved to Lompoc, California. Jeffie resumed her nursing career in Lompoc, working at medical and convalescent facilities in Lompoc and also the Lutheran Home in Solvang.

She died Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Lubbock, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, her three children, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jeffie's memory to the Fisher House.
