It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother (Nana), Sister and Aunt Jennie (Gutierrez) Martinez. She passed away on November 22, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.

Jennie was born in Lompoc, California on January 4, 1945, to John and Estefana (De Lira) Gutierrez. She lived in Lompoc her entire life, graduating from Lompoc High School in 1963. After high school, she became a beautician/hairdresser for many years. As her children were born, she decided to stay home and open a daycare. Many children went through her daycare and many of them kept in touch with her until the end.

She is survived by her three children Arthur (Carlene), Evelyn, Elena Martinez, her grandchildren Arthur Jr. (Artie), Maressa, Jasmine and Mercedes, her great grandchildren Ashton, Ayden, Arthur III, Lillyanna, Austin and Alexander, her sisters Evelyn (Rob) Stouppe and Rosie Gutierrez and her beloved nephew Robert John (Rebecca) Stouppe, who was with her almost daily during her battle with cancer. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will be missed by many family and friends. She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking including her fabulous carrot cake and tortillas.

Our mother was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bobby" Martinez, her parents, numerous aunts and uncles.

The visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Starbuck Lind Mortuary, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. The funeral services will be on Friday December 15, at 10:00am at La Purisima Church with a graveside service to follow at the Lompoc Cemetery.
