Jerry W. Browning of Lompoc died Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the age of 56.

Jerry was born June 4, 1952, in Trail, British Columbia, Canada to Oliver and Audrey Browning. He was raised and educated in Torrance, California, and graduated from West Torrance High School. He later went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University in 1979 and a Master's Degree in Management from Webster College in Illinois in 1988.

He joined the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He completed his military service as a missile maintenance specialist. For the last six years he worked as a technical director with the 576th Missile Test Wing.

An avid Denver Bronco fan, Jerry was more than just a spectator. He loved playing softball every chance he got. He also enjoyed camping and fishing.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Alicia Browning of Lompoc, his son, Michael Browning of Lompoc, his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Kelly Browning of Cheyenne, Wyoming, his daughter, April Browning of Lompoc, three grandchildren, Lee, Jayden and Jasmyn, his brothers, Francis Browning of Arcadia California, and Richard Browning of Canada, and his sister, Laurie Uyeda of Pleasanton.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008, at 1 p.m. Vandenberg Air Force Base Chapel #1. Jerry's family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children at 3160 Geneva Street, Los Angeles, CA 90020 or at

Cremation will be followed by private inurnment. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
