Jerry loved sports growing up. He was a gifted baseball player, and enjoyed racing midget cars. He moved to Lompoc in 1962 and began a career in auto mechanics and started a family. Jerry later moved to Palm Springs and worked as a front end and brakeman, then returned to Lompoc to run a backhoe and trucking business with his father. He then went back to working on cars at Lompoc Honda were he retired in 2005.
Other than his family, he loved sports especially the Rams, Dodgers, and Lakers. His other passions included watching his Grandchildren perform in their activities and doing things with his parents.
