Jerry "Joe" Vasques passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020.
Joe is survived by his wife Rose Marie, his son John Vasques (Carmen) daughter Christina Tonoli, grandchildren, Jessica Vasques (Ronnie II), Sean Vasquez (Phoebe), Staff Sgt. John Vasques Jr. USMC (Elicity) and Paul Vasques and great-grandchildren, Ronnie III, Logan, Oliver and Penelope. His sisters, Mabel Voehl, Marylou Gallaway and Ellen Dehoff.
He is predeceased by both his parents Severina & John Vasques, his sister Juanita Brooks and brother Ray Smith.
Joe was born February 21, 1942 in White City Kansas. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served 4 years. After his service to the Navy he relocated to Santa Barbara California. In 1967 he married Rose Marie Ruiz and spent the next 52 wonderful years raising a family together. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed traveling for bowling tournaments with his wife. As member of the Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274, he was very involved with the Elks and enjoyed his time volunteering around the community with the BBQ crew. From 2008 to 2009 Joe became Exalted Ruler for the Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274 and had a wonderful time representing Lompoc Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed the fact that his granddaughter Jessica was the Lompoc Elks Queen Candidate for the Lompoc Flower Festival the same year he served as Exalted Ruler. He will be deeply missed by family and many friends he made along the way.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Joe on January 25, 2020 at 2pm at the Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274, located at 905 East Ocean Avenue, Lompoc, California.
