It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our Jessica Lorraine Arevalos, lovingly known as Gorda. A devoted mom and a bright light, Jessica touched the lives of everyone she met. She was born on June 22, 1998 to Lorraine Terrones and Johnny Arevalos. Jessica found her greatest joy in raising her children, Azy, Zari, and Azir, and creating a loving and supportive home for them. She was known for her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, humor, strong love for all her family, and her ability to always put others first. We lost her on April 5, 2025. While we find a way to grieve the missing piece of our hearts, she will live on through our memories.

Jessica loved being a mother more than anything and happily made memories with her children; from teaching them how to walk or ride a bike, taking them to Legoland, on bike rides, camping, to the park for BBQs, or making sure they had everything they needed for all of their sports. She definitely was one of the loudest voices cheering Azy and Zari on from the stands. Sadly, she only had a little over a year with Azir but everyone could tell just how much she truly loved her "Fat-Fat". Determined she was, that her children lived their lives to the fullest and experienced all that she could offer. Safe to say, she succeeded while we were blessed with her! And her family will continue this path for all her babies.

Celebrations were her passion. Jessica enjoyed a great party. Growing up in Bakersfield, she had fun with her cousins living there. Singing, dancing, they did it all. They could even turn the bus to church into a good time. As she got older, Jessica was known for her parties, from the themes to the decorations. She could plan a birthday better than anyone and her treat boxes were always a hit. Holidays in her house were constantly overflowing with family and love. Jessica made sure all her people had the best festivities for all occasions. And of course, her favorite part to any event was the food. Our girl could eat! Whenever she entered her Grandma Maxine's house, it was always "Papa – whatchu cookin'?!"

Shoes and fashion were a part of her. Anyone who knew Gorda, knows how massive her shoe collection was; with a shoe for almost every outfit. A trait she has passed on, as her children are always "suited and booted" head-to-toe.

Jessica is survived by her children, A'zariah Arevalos, Zarion Sutton and Azir Sutton; her parents, Lorraine Terrones and Johnny Arevalos; her siblings, Robert (Jasmine) Arevalos, John "Jr" (Kelsey) Arevalos, Gabriel Gomez, Christopher Cuevas, Johnathan Cuevas, and Nevaeh Arevalos; nephew, Carlos Salgado and a niece or nephew on the way; Grandparents, John and Linda Arevalos, Ralph Terrones, Maxine Terrones and Danny Holmes; Tias/Tios, Lauretta Terrones, Anthony (Pia) Terrones, Jason (Catherine) Arevalos; and so many cousins that she cherished immensely.

Her Angels waiting to welcome her into Heaven were her sister, Linda Arevalos; her heart-bonded cousin, Desiree Jordan; Godson, Thaddeus "TJ" Thomas Jr. who she called her "SonSon"; Great-Grandparents, Larry and Rachel Justice, Daniel and Tomasa Terrones, Felicitas Arevalos, and Henrietta "Katie" Rojas; cousins, Angelo "Junie" Arevalos and Melissa Perez; and several Aunts and Uncles.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 1st, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary from 5pm to 8pm.

Funeral will be held on Friday, May 2nd, also at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, starting at 10am with burial to follow at the Lompoc Cemetery.

Jessica's Celebration of Life will be following the burial at the Lompoc Grange Hall, located at 435 North 'G' St in Lompoc.

This would be incomplete without adding that Gorda was an avid 49ers fan, so Bang, Bang, Niners Gang!
