Jesus Monreal Sr., 101 years old, passed away peacefully and in the grace of God at his home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born in La Constancia, Durango, Mexico on January 10, 1923.

He was a responsible, jack of all trades, honest, cheerful, punctual, friendly man, always willing to support others, enjoyed milkshakes, very direct and to the point, and very proud of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and his entire family.

In his native land he was a farmer, a worker in the carpet and textile factory. Later he was part of "the bracero program" in search of a better future for his entire family. With great honor and pride, he continued to be an agricultural worker in several US states. He established residence with his family first in Oxnard, California and later became a resident of Lompoc. He enjoyed his taste in music and for several years was a disk jockey for the local station, KNEZ. Where he delighted the listening public with shoutouts and music requests. He lived in Lompoc until the day God Our Lord called him.

Jesus and Teresa Monreal had a large family, 13 children; 9 survivors; 45 biological grandchildren and countless grandchildren by heart whom he loved dearly; a centenary of great-grandchildren; and soon the fifth great-great-grandchild. During the course of his life, he and Teresa ensured the well-being of several nieces and nephews. Jesus enjoyed the love, respect and admiration of his nephews from both sides of the border, they were always in his heart.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Jesus, you will remember his kindness, tenderness, good advice, and words that he invented to make his point across easy and clear. He was gifted with the gift of public speaking. On numerous occasions he was requested to be master of ceremonies at community, religious, and family festivities; many also asked him to accompany them to marriage proposals.

Jesus is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Monreal. In lieu of flowers, please donate on his behalf to Smile Train, St. Vincent DePaul at La Purisima Concepcion Church, or La Purisima Catholic School.

Services for Jesus will be: open casket vigil Wednesday, January 31 from 12 to 6 PM; Holy Rosary at 6PM at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary 123 N. A St., Lompoc. Thursday, February 1 funeral mass at 10AM at La Purisima Concepcion Church 213 W. Olive Ave., Lompoc. His final resting place will be on Friday, February 2 at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at 10AM.

Jesus Monreal Sr., de 101 años, falleció tranquilo y en gracia de dios en su casa el martes 23 de enero, 2024. Nació en La Constancia, Durango, México el 10 de enero de 1923.

Él fue un hombre responsable, multifacético, honesto, alegre, puntual, amigable, siempre dispuesto apoyar al prójimo, disfrutaba de malteadas, muy directo y al punto, y muy orgulloso de sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos, tataranietos y toda su familia.

En su tierra natal fue agricultor, obrero de la fábrica de alfombras y textiles. Posteriormente formo parte de "los braceros" en busca de un mejor porvenir para toda su familia. A mucha honra y orgullo siguió siendo trabajador agrícola en varios estados de la unión americana. Estableció residencia con su familia primero en Oxnard, California para después ser residente de Lompoc. Disfruto de su gusto por la música y por varios años fue locutor de la estación local, KNEZ. Donde alegro al público radioescucha con saludos y complacencias. Vivió en Lompoc hasta el día que Dios Nuestro Señor lo llamo.

Jesus y Teresa Monreal procrearon una familia numerosa, 13 hijos; 9 sobrevivientes; 45 nietos biológicos e infinidad de nietos de corazón; un centenar de bisnietos; y próximamente el quinto tataranieto. Durante el transcurso de su vida él y Teresa aseguraron el bienestar de varios sobrinos. Jesus disfruto del cariño, respeto y admiración de sus sobrinos de ambos lados de la frontera, siempre estuvieron en su corazón.

Si tuviste el placer de conocer a Jesus recordaras su amabilidad, ternura, buenos consejos, y palabras que se inventaba para hacer fácil y claro el punto de la plática. El disfruto de la habilidad del don de palabra. En numerosas ocasiones fue solicitado para ser maestro de ceremonias en festividades comunitarias, religiosas, y familiares, también muchos le pedían que los acompañaran a propuestas matrimoniales.

Jesus es precedido en muerte por su esposa, Teresa Monreal. En lugar de flores, por favor haga una donación en su nombre a Smile Train (paladar hendido), St. Vincent DePaul en La Purísima Concepción Church o la Escuela Católica La Purísima.

Los servicios para Jesus serán: vigilia con ataúd abierto miércoles 31 de enero de 12 a 6 PM; Santo Rosario a las 6PM en la funeraria Starbuck-Lind Mortuary 123 N. A St., Lompoc. Jueves 1 de febrero misa fúnebre a las 10AM en La Purísima Concepción Church 213 W. Olive Ave., Lompoc. Su última morada será el viernes 2 de febrero en Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery a las 10AM.
