Long time Lompoc resident, Jim Ellis passed away on Saturday September 30, 2006 after a sudden illness.
He was born July 29, 1924 in Bremerton, Washington. He served in the Air Corp during WWII. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and then went on to be a mechanical engineer at Johns-Manville for thirty-two years. After his retirement from Johns-Manville he owned his own successful consulting business, Elko Consulting.
He was an amazing golfer and enjoyed playing all of his life. He will be greatly missed by the love of his life, his wife Virginia. He was a loving father to his daughters, Robin Smith, Sally Scott and his son Bradley Ellis as well as grandfather to Greg, David and Sean Smith, Megan Hildebrand and Courtney Scott.
A graveside memorial service will be held for Jim on Thursday, October 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lompoc Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
