Jim G. Romero, Jr., was born January 1, 1957, in Lompoc to his loving parents, Jimmy and Connie Romero. He joined our heavenly father on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, when he passed away at Cottage Hospital at the age of 50.

Jim attended elementary school at La Purisima Catholic School and later graduated from Lompoc High School in 1976. He was employed for 22 wonderful years by the Lompoc Unified School District, Lompoc High School, where he worked as a custodian and formed many friendships throughout the school district.

He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jim was preceded in death by his loving mother, Connie J. Romero. Jim is survived by his father, Jimmy J. Romero of Lompoc; four sisters, Mary Lou Romero of Santa Clarita, Teresa (Tomas) Salinas of Goleta, Linda (Dan) Gregoire of Thousand Oaks, and Connie Romero of Thousand Oaks; two brothers, Larry Romero of Lompoc and Joe (Amber) Romero also of Lompoc; four nephews and two nieces.

Jim can best be described by his overwhelming compassion, caring, and interest in people, which led to many close and lifelong relationships. He was a humanitarian and a beautiful human being who will be missed by all who knew him. Jim is one of those people whose memory will bring a smile to your face at the mention of his name, much the same reaction as when you hear a favorite old song on the radio. He truly was a great human being. His favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting, as well as barbequing for his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24th, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary from 4 PM until 7 PM, followed by a Vigil at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, April 25th, at 1 PM at La Purisima Catholic Church with Father Tom Cook offficiating. Burial will follow in Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
