Jimmie Alfred Maiden, 77, of Lompoc died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Lompoc Hospital. Jimmie was born January 19, 1937 in Richmond, Indiana to Avery and Edith Paxton Maiden. While stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, he married Erna (Ann) on March 1, 1963 in Augsburg. After 23 years of service, he retired as a MSgt. in the Army and was known affectionately as "Top" by all. During his tours of duty, he received the Vietnam Service Medal, Campaign Medal, Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, five Good Conduct Medals, and most proudly, the Bronze Star Medal. He was the consummate professional.
Jimmie enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching football, playing with his grandchildren, visiting with his beloved nephew D.A. and telling jokes.
Survivors include his wife that he adored, Erna Maiden; sons Ronnie, Ray (Melanie) and Andy; daughters Evelyn (Alex), Nina (Chet) and 11 grandchildren who all adored their Opa.
Memorial services will be 2 pm Friday, September 26 at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
