Obituary

Joan Scolari, longtime resident of Lompoc passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the age of 87. She was born October 1, 1929 to Asa Taylor and Florence Elizabeth Amos in Parsons, Kansas. Joan attended Parsons High School, Parsons Jr. College and Kansas State University.
In the late 1940's she married Arthurs M. Trinkle, they had two children Monroe and Sharon, the marriage ending in divorce.
In the late 1950's Joan moved to California, living in Casmalia, Betteravia, Santa Maria and Lompoc at different times. Joan was a single mother working and taking care of her two children when she met LeRoy Scolari, they married in 1963.
Joan worked work Boeing Aircraft Company in Whichita Kansas as an inspector, after moving to California Joan worked for Union Sugar in Betteravia as an engineer. She also worked with Julia Childs in Montecito as an assistant chef.
Joan was actively involved in many charitable organizations, every moment of which she loved. These include; PTA where she was instrumental in starting a breakfast program at El Camino School, Odd Fellows and Rebekah's serving as a State Officer, Cowbells, Grange, Farm Bureau serving on the State of California Farm Bureau Women's Committee, Santa Barbara County Trails Commission, California Women of Agriculture, serving as a regional representative and as a docent at Surf Beach.
Joan was also well known for her fudge, providing many pounds of the tasty treat to family , friends and different organizations and charities.
Joan is survived by her husband of 53 years LeRoy Scolari, her son Monroe (Monte) Trinkle (Patty), daughter Sharon Scolari Burman (Al), grandchildren Michael Dudley, Camille Hosseini and James Burman. Four great grandchildren Logan and Conan Dudley, Cyrus and Kash Hosseini and two sisters Carolyn Cushen and Kay Bates.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Barbara Naslund and Mary Stafford.
The family wishes to thank Marian and Lompoc Hospitals, Lompoc Skilled and Rehab Center and all the Doctors and staff for the excellent care Joan received. We would also like to thank longtime friend Jose Torres for his care and help for over 30 years.
Services are 9:30 am Friday, December 9th at Queen of Angels Catholic Church on Burton Mesa and Rucker Road. In lieu of flowers please donate to Lompoc Valley Historical Society or a charity of your choice.
