JoAnn Cason Evans
1934-2008

JoAnn Juanita Cason Evans, age 73 of Lompoc, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Friday, June 20, 2008.

JoAnn was born December 8, 1934 to James and Mattie Wright. She was raised and educated in Santa Paula and came to Lompoc in the early 50's. She married her first husband, William Edward (Buddy) Cason, and started a family at a young age. In her early years, in addition to being a wife and mother, JoAnn enjoyed music and dancing at the Moose Lodge.

She held jobs at an answering service, served as playground aide, and enjoyed a 15-year career as a receptionist with Valley Medical Group.

Later in life, after being preceded in death by William Cason, she married her second husband Lloyd Evans and enjoyed numerous trips to Hawaii. JoAnn loved to crochet, knit, read, and spend time with friends and family. But most of all, JoAnn loved doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Lloyd Evans of Lompoc, daughter and son-in-law Sandi and Sam Wilder of Lakewood, CA, daughter and son-in-law Teressa and Tom of Santa Maria, CA, son and daughter-in-law Eddie and Lori Cason of Tempe, AZ, daughter and son-in-law Toni and Steve O'Neal of Lompoc, CA, brother Jack Wright of Ventura, CA, brother Gary Wright of Beaumont, CA, sister Dalpha Wright of Bakersfield, CA, four half sisters and one half brother who reside in Oregon, as well as seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Sam Wilder officiating. Interment will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions in JoAnn's name can be made to the American Cancer Society, 604 E. Ocean Ave., Lompoc, CA.
