Joaquin "Jok" Perez Monreal
Vigil services for Joaquin "Jok" Perez Monreal, 26, of Santa Maria and formerly of Lompoc, will be 5 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Lompoc, Joaquin was born August 16, 1981 to Florentino and Adalia Monreal Perez. Jok was raised and educated in the Lompoc Valley and graduated from Lompoc High in 2000. He had lived in Santa Maria for the last five years, and worked as a certified tire technician at Santa Maria Tire. His favorite pastimes included barbecuing, playing and watching sports, dancing, cooking, and bicycle riding.
He died Sunday, August 10, 2008 in Oceano.
Survivors include his mother, Adalia Monreal of Santa Maria; father, Florentino Perez of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; sisters, Elizabeth Cadena of Santa Maria, Georgina Perez, Francis Perez and Candice Monreal all of Lompoc; brothers, Tony Espinoza of Las Vegas, Richard Espinoza of Martinez, California, Jesse Perez and Andrew Monreal, both Lompoc; and fiancé, Biannet Garcia of Santa Maria.
Visitation hours will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
