Obituary
Joe C. Staight of Lompoc of died January 14, 2008 at the age of 75.
Joe was born August 2, 1932 in Eaton, Ohio to Emil and Alma Staight. He spent three years in the U.S. Navy before joining the U.S . Air Force. He retired in 1973 after 17 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant. He then served as a firefighter at Vandenberg Air Force Base for 19 years, during which time he completed his education by earning an Associates degree at Allan Hancock College.
Joe was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Lompoc.
Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years Betty Staight of Lompoc, son and his wife John and Anne Staight of Etiwanda, California, daughter Sandra Boyland of Henderson, Nevada, sisters Norma Gels of Eaton, Ohio and Mary Lee Miller of Trenton, Ohio, grandchildren Austin, Matthew and Amanda Staight, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, January 18, 2008, at 4 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Lompoc. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment. Arrangements are through Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
