John "Jack" Floyd Atkin, of Lompoc, passed in peace, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, Sept 5, 2021, at the age of 73.
Jack was born Sept 16, 1947, in St. George, Utah to Fred and Laura Atkin. He came to Lompoc with his family at the age of 8. After completing Lompoc High School, he served his country as a member of the Fifth Force Recon with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. Later, he continued his education in accounting earning a 4.0 GPA.
Jack was a security advisor in the aerospace industry for many years. He was a member of the Lompoc Masonic Lodge. His passion was his family. He loved to BBQ, work in his yard, and do pretty much anything with family and the grandkids.
Jack is preceded in death by his father, Fred Atkin, mother, Laura Atkin, and his sister, Linda Hardy. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Shaw Atkin; his five children, Christine Kreps of Lompoc, Brenda (Christopher) Saletta of Los Osos, Debbie Magallanes of Lompoc, Shane (Tammy) Atkin of Lompoc, and John Dustin Atkin of Lompoc; sisters Bonnie Loveridge and Kay Stock of Utah; and six grandchildren Joshua Magallenas, Brandon Saletta, Kelsey Atkin-Nothstein, Kyle Saletta, Tyler Magallenas and Karley Atkin
The memorial service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
