Obituary

John Escullar Barcelona
John Barcelona left us unexpectedly Tuesday morning on October 20, 2009. He was 72.

Born in Manila, Philippines on March 10th 1937; he was the eldest of 11 children born to Alexander & Remedios Barcelona. The Barcelona family planted their roots in Lompoc since moving here in 1952.

John was a very hard and dedicated worker. Serving in the US Army Reserves as well as being active in the Infantry division. He also spent quite a bit of time working on Vandenberg Air Force Base, almost 20 years in several fields. He spent his last couple of years retired at home, helping take care of his grandchildren.

Known to family and friends as stubborn or grouchy, he was really kind and funny. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His knowledge and wisdom will be truly missed. It will be very hard for us to get by without him here. We all loved him so much!

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rosa, daughters Amy & Alexis and grandchildren Aysia, Kaden and Jayden plus all of his siblings.

There will be a viewing held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Sunday, October 25th from 2 - 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service beginning at 6 p.m. A Mass will be held at La Purisima Church on Monday, October 26th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
