John Garcia Flores, Sr., 94, died Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his Lompoc home with his family by his side. He was a resident of Lompoc for over 81 years.
Johnny was born to the late Juan and Flossie Flores. Johnny enjoyed singing karaoke and spending time with his family, he rarely missed an event. He sang well into his 90s at the Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post 211 and was a life-member to both.
Johnny served his country as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War. After the Army, he settled in Lompoc, California where he raised his family. He and his wife raised three beautiful children, who all went on to make Lompoc their home.
Johnny retired from Lockheed-Martin as a painter after 37 years. Loving to paint, he put his mark on many local buildings, cars, airplanes and even the Lompoc Drive-In with his father and brother. Johnny an avid bowler, wore his 300-game ring until his dying day.
Johnny is preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Sue, his son, John Jr., and his sister Marlene Breen.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 18 years, Susie, his daughters Vicki (Rollie) Garife and Brenda (Randy) Nogle, his brother, Gilbert, his 7 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Johnny was a wonderful stepfather and was dearly loved by his stepsons, David and Keith.
He will especially be remembered for his amazing singing voice and his ability to become the center of attention whether it was his joking, his laugh, or his great dance moves.
Services for Johnny will be private. You can send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Johnny.
