Obituary

John Houston Kennedy, a resident of Lompoc CA, peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 1st, 2022, at the age of 75. John was also known as Big John, Dad, and Papa. He was born on January 2nd, 1947, to William and Mamie Kennedy in Montgomery, Alabama. In his early life John was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was a man of many trades including but not limited to Roofing, Carpentry, and Oil field pipelines. He moved from Bakersfield, California to Lompoc in 1995, where he has resided ever since. John was a proud member of the American legion Post 125 and Post 211 as well as an Honor Guard for Boots and Chutes. John was loved, funny, and stubborn as a bull but we remember him most for his life stories.

As a young man John enjoyed hunting deer, boar and pheasant hunts through the Kiwanis club. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, mountain camping, shooting pool and bowling leagues. Anyone who met John would never forget his witty personality. In his later years, he enjoyed the company of his kids and grandkids, old western tv shows, and McDonald's double cheeseburgers. John's favorite part of his day was going to Post 211 for his allowance of TWO drinks (he loved to drink).

John is survived by his mother Mamie Kennedy, ex-wife and best friend of 40 years Mae Kennedy/Hughes, two brothers Bill Kennedy and Tom Kennedy, sister Loraine Reynolds's, two sons John Kennedy II and Cj Kennedy, stepdaughter Elisabeth Kennedy/Villarreal and stepson Brandon Kennedy/Hughes, 1st granddaughter "Hailey girl" Kennedy and 12 others including Johni Angel, Andrea, Emma, Daniel, Gabby, John-John, Christopher, Tobin, Gabe, Andrew, Olivia, and Liam that he loved very much. Also his favorite niece Vicky Medina and many more nieces and nephews.

He will always be cherished and deeply missed. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. We all know he is at absolute peace now.

Gone but never forgotten.
