Obituary

John Lee Maloy passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 66.  He was born on July 23, 1957, in Vallejo, California to Darlene and Glen Maloy.  John graduated from Lompoc High School in 1975 and met the love of his life, Jean Ann Jurosky, shortly after.  In 1978, he was involved in a serious car accident that put him in a coma for 8 days.  But he was a fighter and this was one of many obstacles he would overcome in his years.  John and Jean were married on December 30, 1978, at La Purisima Catholic Church in Lompoc.

John and Jean had 2 daughters – Mandy and Melanie – who were the lights of his life.  He was an amazing husband, dad, poppy, son, brother, and friend. Anyone who really knew him saw what a beautiful soul he was.  He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family.  He loved watching his grandkids play baseball and softball and he went to as many of their games as he possibly could.

John began his career at Vandenberg Air Force Base as a carpenter for Alliance Properties in 1982.  He then went to work for ITT Industries in 1984 as a carpenter and part of the shop's department.  He transitioned into shops for InDyne in 2003 and worked there until he medically retired in 2015.  On November 8, 2020, he was blessed with a new lung.  It was an incredibly difficult journey for him, but he had a new lease on life and got to experience so many little things with the people he loved that he wouldn't have otherwise.

He loved his family so much and was excited to celebrate Christmas this year.  But, God needed him and we needed a guardian angel.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Darlene Maloy, his sisters, Carrie and Glenda, and brothers, Jacque and Bobby.

John is survived by his wife, Jean Maloy; his daughters, Mandy Maloy and Melanie Johnston; his grandchildren, Hannah, Nico, Jaxon, Jazlyn, and Juju; his brother Jim Maloy; sister Kim Fairy Roberts and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. November 4, 2023, at Starbuck Lind Mortuary in Lompoc with services following at 12 p.m..  There will be a celebration of life immediately following at the Elks Lodge #2274 905 E. Ocean Ave. in Lompoc.
