Obituary

John Ivan Morris of Lompoc passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the age of 76.

John was born January 17, 1933, in Saint Elmo, Illinois to Bryan and Josie Morris. He attended Saint Elmo High School until the age of 17 when he joined the United States Army. During his 24 years of service he served in the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. While stationed in Fontaine Bleau, France he met and married his wife Yvette. He retired from the military in 1973 as a master sergeant and moved his family to Lompoc where he worked as a supply technician at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

John was an avid Laker fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his wife loved to travel, especially to Europe where she still has family. He was a member of the American Legion.

John is survived by his wife Yvette, his daughter and son-in-law Carrol and Mike Cummings of Lompoc, daughter and son-in-law Tina and Bob Crivello of Fresno, two brothers and one sister still living in Illinois, three grandchildren, Alisa and Jamie Cummings, Chris Crivello and his wife Andie, two great grandchildren Dylan and Alyssa Crivello.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, October 10, at 1 pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary led by Pastor John Reil of Peace Lutheran Church. Cremation will be followed by inurnment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
