John Ouimette of Lompoc passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, at the age of 49.
John was born to Wayne and Bettye Ouimette on April 2, 1958, in Leadville, Colorado. His family moved to Lompoc when he was just two months old. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Maple High School in 1976. Specializing in drywall, he worked for a building contractor in Goleta. He enjoyed Pinochle, golf, skiing and working on old cars. He especially enjoyed going on rides on his Harley Davidson with friends. John has been a great comfort and shown much kindness to his widowed Mother.
John is survived by his mother, Bettye Ouimette of Lompoc; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheri and Gilbert Hullinger of Lompoc, Vickie and John Cullinan of New Mexico, and Yvonne and Stan Young of Lompoc. He is also survived by step-daughter Wendy Ofenloch, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his good friend Randy Mees and extended family in Napa. He was preceded in death by his father in 1996 and his brother Lee Ouimette in 2005.
A memorial service will be held at Riverview Christian Church of God at 1 p.m. August 25, 2007. There will be a potluck in the fellowship hall afterwards.
Cremation will be followed by private inurnment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund in his name at the Lompoc branch of the Santa Barbara Bank and Trust.
