John D. Pippins of Lompoc died Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the age of 82.
John was born in Bernie Missouri to Lloyd and Lottie Pippins. After graduating from Dexter High School in Bernie he joined the United States Navy. After his discharge from the Navy he was employed as a radar controller in a many military outposts ending with a position with ITT/FEC at Vandenberg Air Force Base and his retirement in 1996. A resident of Lompoc since 1968, he completed his education by attending Allan Hancock College.
John was an active member of the Lompoc Moose Lodge #1036 and the Lompoc Elks Lodge #2247 and served on the barbeque teams for both lodges. He enjoyed watching Nascar races and Angels baseball.
John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David and Cathy Pippins of Lompoc, his son and daughter-in-law Tim and Lisa Pippins of Lompoc, his daughter and son-in-law Joy and David Crouch of Shingletown, California, his brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Nita Pippins of North Carolina, seven grandchildren; Chris Rainey and wife Kim, Jeramy Pippins his wife Cindy, Joshua Rainey his wife Jessica, Jason Pippins and David Bones Pippins and his Fiancée Brittany, nine great grandchildren Raven Cato, Shylee Pippins, Zoey Pippins, Erica Davis, Christian, Colin and Chloe Rainey and Jolie and Jemma Rainey also Don Huff a great friend and caretaker.
He truly was a blessing in life and will be deeply missed.
