Obituary
John Patrick Ryan of Lompoc died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the age of 91.
John was born May 31, 1922, in Palestine, Texas to John and Jeanne Ryan. He was a pilot in the United States Air Force. John was a veteran of three wars serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After 30 years of service John retired from the Air Force in the Lompoc/VAFB area. A resident of Lompoc since 1974, he also had a 30-year career in Real Estate. He completed his education by earning an associate's degree at Allan Hancock College.
John was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ryan in 1997, his daughter Mary Kathleen in 1974, and his son Michael Ryan in 2008. He is survived by his sons Timothy Ryan of Santa Barbara and Matthew Ryan of Lompoc.
The visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Tom Cook on Thursday, January 9, at 10 am at La Purisima Catholic Church. Cremation will be followed by inurnment in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Grass Valley.
