Obituary
John C. Strube of Lompoc passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2006 in Santa Barbara at the age of 54.
He was born August 23, 1952 in Estherville, Iowa to Everett and Ruth Strube. His family moved to Los Angeles in 1955 and settled in Lompoc in 1963. He attended Lompoc High School. John worked as a breakfast chef during winter seasons in Phoenix, Arizona. He enjoyed playing poker, especially Texas Hold 'em, a game at which he was both skilled and lucky.
John is survived by his mother, Ruth Strube of Lompoc; brother, Edd Strube of Lompoc; nieces, Erin Pettine of San Diego and Dena Walsh of Nashville, Tennessee; and grandnephew, Nathan Pettine.
The memorial service will be on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Reverend David Horning of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment. Memorial donnations may be made to Lompoc Artificial Kidney Center, 127 West Pine Avenue, Lompoc, CA 93436.
