Johnnie Mae (Gholston) Harris was born on November 20, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Reverend John Nelson Williams, Sr. and Mary Ann Williams. Both preceded her in death.
Johnnie Mae attended the public schools in St. Louis and graduated from Central High School. She started her nursing career at Union Pacific Hospital in St. Louis and continued in the field after moving to Los Angeles, California. Johnnie Mae was nursing supervisor at several medical facilities in Los Angeles.
Johnnie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Everett Gholston, Jr. in April of 1959. To this union was born one son, Everett Gholston, III and one daughter, Sylvia Gholston. Sylvia preceded her in death.
In Later years Johnnie Mae was untied in matrimony to James Harris on March 15, 1997. Together they enjoyed many years of contentment and happiness.
Johnnie Mae was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her warm smile and pleasant personality will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
After a long illness she was called home to eternal peace on November 15, 2012 at her home in Lompoc, California.
She is survived by her husband James Harris, one sister, Sharon Williams of St. Louis, two sisters-in-law, Delores Glasby of St. Louis and Dorothy (Dot) Gholston of Las Vegas, her son Everett Gholston, III and his wife Brenda, two stepsons, Kevin Harper and Mark Harris, one stepdaughter, Joi Calloway, her grandchildren Everett Gholston, IV, Rayna Gholston and Malkia Gholston, four extended grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her brother John Nelson Williams, Jr. preceded her in death.
