Obituary

Jorge Alberto Larin born on May 8, 1947 in Santa Ana, El Salvador (Central America). He was the son of Jose Austroberto Larin and Maria Ildefonsa Zepeda de Larin. The middle child of 9. Blanca, Jose, Yolanda, Austroberto, Ana-Maria, Victor, Mauricio, and finally Gustavo.

He was a man of strong character, strict discipline, and integrity. Living in poverty forced him to start fending for himself at the young age of 14, as the story goes, he started sweeping at a tailor shop in El Salvador, where he learned the trade of tailor. In 1969 he migrated to the United States with the help of his sister Ana-Maria and his mom. Met the 'Love of his Life' in 1970 her name, Amada Margarita Rivas, and got married on Oct 30 th of the following year. On March 27, 1971 the first child was born, her name is Carolina Margarita Larin. On Dec 28, 1973 another child was born by the name of Martha Beatriz Larin. Lastly on August 1, 1975 their last child was born, Leonardo Alberto Larin.

Jorge faced many struggles as an immigrant with a growing family. He started working in clothing factories in Los Angeles. Began his own factory 'Leonardo's' in the early 1970's. As the challenges of owning a business began to overwhelm and consume him, he closed it in 1980. In 1981 he helped his wife migrate Carlos E. Rivas (his step son) who was 12 at the time and in danger of being recruited to fight the fierce civil war in El Salvador. With the help of Jose and Ruth Sanchez he moved his family to Goleta, California. There he continued his struggle as a tailor working for Robinsons and C&R Clothiers and finishing off his working career as the owner of a tuxedo rental shop known as Tux & Tails in Goleta.

Jorge was a creative and inventive man, in 2002 he came up with an idea, a simpler way of hanging a piñata. In 2007 the idea came to life and soon after that, became his passion, those that knew him would say it was his 'last child'.

Jorge was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (A type of cancer in the bone marrow) on February 2018. He fought a great fight, undergoing the traditional treatments available like Chemo Therapy, Radiation, and finally succumbing to the disease on November 23, 2018 at 1:19 am.

Jorge a loving man, of 12 grandkids, one great grandson, 4 children, countless of nieces and nephews, 8 siblings, and finally his wife of 47 years. We will surely miss his presence, influence, and companionship.
