Jose Ramon Montes De Oca (30), beloved husband and best friend of Liliana(Rios) went home to the Lord, Sunday, July 9, 2017.
Born to Ramon and Vitalina Montes de Oca, June 23, 1987. He was a model son, and brother. He attended local schools and graduated from Lompoc High school in 2005. This is where he met his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Liliana. They were anxiously hoping to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on July 23Rd.
Together they were given three beautiful children, Jose Ramon, Emmanuel Ignacio, and Lailani Rose. He was a devoted father. Coaching his son's little league and soccer teams, and created award winning banners, was something he looked forward to every season. Lailani just had him wrapped around her little finger, he painted her nails, bought her sparkly light up shoes and never missed a good tea party.
He was a man that you would be honored to have as a friend. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he was physically present playing the games, socializing. He always pitched in to help, set-up, clean-up, we loved to have parties! He never let a friend down and you knew you could always count on him. He played like he lived, passionately. His teammates on the Sluggers will never be the same. After fracturing his ankle, his doctors advised him to stop playing the sport, he didn't, he always knew best. He never missed a moment to explain why he was right, ever. Even a friendly game of water polo was competitive as his 6 ft frame was able to spike the ball before anyone had a chance to get near it. And if you were lucky enough to be close to him, you could expect that he would shout out a nice scream, just to scare the living daylights out of you. That smile and laugh from him that would come after we will treasure in our memories.
He is survived by his wife Liliana and their three children, Jr, Manny and Lailani, his loving parents, Vitalina and Ramon Montes De Oca, siblings, Carlos Ponce, Rafael Ponce, Miguel Montes De Oca, Gabriela Montes De Oca(Ricardo) and Alberto Montes de Oca, his in laws loved him like a son, Guadalupe and Ignacio Rios, Ignacio Jr(Veronica), Luis(Marily), Carlos, and Jennifer. Of course being from traditional Mexican, Catholic families, he leaves behind 14 immediate nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family that will miss him dearly.
Services in his honor will be Sunday, July 16th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc, for the Most Holy Rosary and viewing. The funeral mass will take place, Monday, July 17th at 1:00 pm at La Purisima Catholic Church, 213 West Olive Avenue, Lompoc.
A memorial account has been set-up at Coasthills Federal Credit Union under MontesDeOca Memorial Fund account # 155638-01. The family would like to thank everyone for all of the love and support they have received.
