Obituary
A funeral mass for Jose Rueben Montoya, 79, of Lompoc, will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Jose was born October 1, 1933 in Denver, Colorado to Edward and Anna Marquez Montoya. After serving in the United States Air Force, he moved to Lompoc and worked at the newly established Vandenberg Air Force Base as a water treatment plant operator. He retired from his civil service position in 1988 after 30 years of service.
He died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at his home.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Eleanor Montoya of Lompoc; sisters Margaret Tapadilla of Aurora, Colorado, Dorothy Martinez of Commerce, Colorado, and Mary Ann Fregia of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Edward Montoya of Lompoc and Arthur Montoya of Commerce; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Gloria Anglada in 2008.
