Obituary

Joseph Dexter Dean Laney, 57, of Lompoc died on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Lompoc Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1954 in San Diego California to Edward and Marguerite Laney. He is survived by his wife, Flora Laney, and daughters; Cheryl, Lisa, and Margie, sons, James and John, mother Marguerite Laney, sisters Donna and Sharon, and brothers, Dan and Michael.

Joseph always believed in keeping family together. He loved his family dearly. He believed in working hard for what you have. And he did have a hard life, but he fought for his family regardless. He served the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1983 as an aircraft mechanic. His assignments included Shepherd AFB, TX (1974-1976), Germany (1975), Clark AFB, Philippines (1976-1981), Japan (1977), Kunsan Air Base, Korea (1978-1983), Travis AFB, California (1983). He was always proud to serve his country, even if he did not wear the uniform any longer. His interests involved reading Glenn Beck books, watching current event news and politics, and being a handy man. He also loves sci-fi stories. He loved being a Grandpa to his nieces Naomi, Melissa, and Azaleah.

A burial service with military honors will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at 2pm. Please send condolences to 239 North L Street, Lompoc, CA 93436.
