Joseph C. Flamand, 84, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013, in Lompoc after a lengthy illness.
Joseph was born on August 4, 1928, in Concord, New Hampshire to Adjutor and Viola Flamand. He attended all levels of school in Concord, New Hampshire and graduated from high school from Concord High School in New Hampshire. After graduation he joined the army and served four years in Germany. Upon returning he went to work for the Atomic Energy Commission in Nevada. He then returned to New Hampshire and worked for the Raytheon Corporation. After that he took a job with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Danbury, Connecticut. In 1972, he was transferred to Lompoc and worked at the Federal Bureau of Prisons as cable shop manufacturer supervisor until his retirement in 1985.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years Carol, his son Joel of Brentwood, California and his wife Jerri (granddaughter Jennifer), daughter Joanne Vaughn of Manchester, New Hampshire and her husband Phil (grandsons Justus and Phelen) and son Aaron of London, England and his wife Jaime (granddaughter Morgan). Joseph is also survived by his brothers Raymond and Edward Flamand as well as his sister Auxillina Harmes. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ludger and his sister Rachel Gomes. Also his two grandsons Jason and Zachary Flamand.
Joseph was very active with the athletic department at Cabrillo Senior High School as well Village Hills Little League where he served as Little League President for many years. He was also a high school official for many years. In the latter part of his life Joseph was an advent traveler with his wife and visited many parts of the world.
The family has decided on no services and arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice.
