Services for Joseph O'Dwyer, Jr., 90, of Lompoc, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery with Chaplain Scott Baker officiating and the Vandenberg Air Force Honor Guard presenting military honors.
Joseph was born November 13, 1917 in Oakland, California to Joseph and Kate Dobbins O'Dwyer, Sr. Joe was a World War II and Korea War veteran, and after 20 years of military service he retired in 1961 from the U.S. Air Force. He then worked as a safety inspector at Vandenberg Air Force Base until his final retirement from civil service in 1977. His favorite pastimes included playing guitar and country music.
He died Monday August 11, 2008 at the Convalescent Care Center in Lompoc.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Mariechen "Maria" O'Dwyer of Lompoc; son, David O'Dwyer, Sr. of Lompoc; and grandsons, David O'Dwyer, Jr. and Grant O'Dwyer both of Lompoc.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
