82 years young, Joyce was a resident of Lompoc, CA for 53 years. Moving from San Diego, CA in 1962. Joyce passed away on Saturday September 26, 2015 at Marion Hospital in Santa Maria, CA.
Joyce was born on February 15, 1933 in Winnebago, Nebraska to Earl and Evelyn (Red Owl) Lieb. They were members of the Santee Sioux Tribe and of that she was very proud.
Joyce was a very proud and strong woman. She was proud of her family no matter what. She was very kind and honest but would tell you how she felt even if it hurt a little bit. She had a huge heart and would never leave you hanging. She was there to help you out if you were in need, even if she was upset with you. Whether you were a friend or her closest relative, she would be there to help.
Joyce loved her baseball and was always there cheering for her grandchildren at their games. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Half Century Club.
She enjoyed line dancing with her husband for many years, Bingo with her friends, the casino with her son and shopping with her daughter and granddaughter. She was the best cook and enjoyed cooking and feeding anyone that came over. She would cook feasts for the family on holidays. Joyce was a reigning champ at the Halloween contests at the Moose Lodge for many years, sewing and designing her own costumes. Joyce was a fun, loving and great person. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and friend that anyone could ask for.
Joyce is survived by her two children; William "Billy" Whitted and Terri Brickey; four grandchildren; Jena and Riana Lundy, Brandon (Elizabeth) Brickey and Krysani (Raymond) Jaloma. She was also survived by her nine great grandchildren; Joseph Lundy, Mariah Lopez, Brandon Jr and William "Willie" Brickey; Ayden and Arriah Jaloma, twins Ritchie and Lela and Ava Brownell and her siblings Verna Warren, Sylvia and Leslie Whipple.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Evelyn; husband William G. Whitted, Sr.; daughter Kim M. Lundy; son-in-laws Charles F. Brickey and Bruce Lundy, siblings Betty J. Tebo, Elmer Lieb and George Lieb.
A viewing will be held on Sunday October 4, 2015 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with graveside services on Monday October 5, 2015 at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at 2:00 pm. A potluck reception will be held following the service on Monday at the Half Century Club, 341 North N Street, Lompoc.
Joyce is now at peace with her loved ones in heaven but she will always be in our hearts.
