Juanita F. Campbell was born July 29, 1938, in Jackson, Mississippi to the late William Aaron and Juanita Louise Forbes. She was the oldest of eight children.
She was united in marriage to the late Richard Campbell in Lompoc, California on November 18, 1978.
Juanita graduated from Inkster High School, Inkster, Michigan in 1956. She completed Nursing School at Henry Ford Hospital, graduating as one of the top three nurses in her class. She then went into the Air Force Reserve for a brief period and entered active duty in the United States Air Force in 1960. She faithfully served her country for 20 years in the Nursing profession while attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and retired in 1980. After retiring from military service, she continued her nursing profession for several years providing home health care.
Juanita enjoyed many hobbies such as ceramics, quilting, bowling, knitting, and crocheting. She loved traveling with her grandson James almost every summer, playing cards, and relaxing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Campbell; her sisters, Sandra Flounory and Maggie Brown; her brothers, William C. and Eddie B. Forbes; and her daughter Ruth M. Campbell.
Juanita leaves to cherish her loving memory her children: Yolanda Campbell of Lompoc, CA; Richard B. Campbell (Carolyn) of Colorado Springs, CO; Rickki Bonner (Kevin) of Dearborn Heights, MI; Deloras Sullivan of Los Angeles, CA; her brothers: Aaron A. Forbes of Canton, MI; James M. Forbes of Detroit, MI; Andrew D. Forbes (Frances) of Detroit, MI; twelve grandchildren: James Koekebaker, Jr., TaKisha M. Smith, Sieta Campbell, Mellernee Daniels, Richard Benjamin Campbell, Adrian and Shaun Campbell, Reba Sims; Tanya, Kenya, Maya & Omar Fuggs; thirteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Service for Juanita will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 3 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel.
