Juanita Lee "Mikki" (Chestnut) Betts, 84, passed away on April 30, 2011 at the Comprehensive Care Center in Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California. Mikki was born on April 10, 1927 in Horry County Farm, Conway County , South Carolina to Golda Loumina (Peavey) Chestnut and Edwin Monroe Chestnut.
Mikki was a resident of Lompoc for 41 years. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lompoc Hospital and the Convalescent Care Center, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Lompoc where she was involved with prison ministry.
She is survived by a daughter, Twana Lea (Betts) Shea and 2 grandsons, Nicholas and Jared of Alvord, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 18th at 11:00am, with Pastor R. Wayne Stacks of Carmichael, California officiating at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1009 East Pine Avenue, 805-736-6531, a luncheon hosted by the church to follow the service. Her ashes were scattered-at-sea off the coast of Jalama Beach. Arrangements were taken care of by Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, www.starbucklind.com.
