Judith "Judy" Millicent Jenkins
Judy passed away on August 28, 2011, at her home in Vandenberg Village, surrounded by her family.
Judy was born May 19, 1938, in London England, to William Henry Silas Eacott, and Millicent Muriel Eacott (Buckland).
Judy spent her early childhood years in Felixstowe England, growing up as a self-described tomboy.
Judy met the love of her life, Jim, while he was stationed in England with the U.S. Air Force, and they were married June 14th, 1958. They embarked on a life-long journey that took them and their children to many different countries and cities. Judy loved to travel, and passed that love onto her family. Judy and Jim finally settled in Lompoc when he was stationed at Vandenberg AFB in 1975, and made Lompoc their home. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 2008.
Judy attended Allan Hancock College, and obtained her associates degree in Business in 1983.
Judy's early career began as a legal secretary, but she later was employed, at Vandenberg AFB, by Martin Marietta Aerospace, as a buyer and sub-contracts administrator. She retired in 1997.
After retirement, Judy and Jim took to the highways in their 5th-wheel trailer and toured the country, seeing many sights in the US and Canada. Judy and Jim spent many weekends camping with their friends as members of the Lompoc Elks Happy Wanderers Camping Club. They also continued to make regular trips back to England to visit relatives and friends, as well as to Las Vegas, which Judy enjoyed tremendously.
Judy was an avid bowler. Her passion for bowling remained throughout her life, and she passed this on to her children and grandchildren. Judy was also a youth bowling coach, and so helped many others gain an interest as well. Judy loved travelling to many tournaments with her family and friends, and she was very good at the sport she loved.
Judy loved all animals, from the horses she rode as a child, to the family pets she had through the years. Judy's favorite breed was the lovable Basset Hound, and she and her family has had many of them through the years.
Judy is survived by her husband Jim Jenkins of Lompoc, her son Jeremy Jenkins and wife Becky in Orcutt; and her daughter Jocelyn Jenkins and partner Cliff Ridley in Lompoc. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Joshua Jenkins in Lancaster; Kelsey Jenkins in Las Vegas; Mandy Wheeler in Orcutt; Breanne Allegretto in Lompoc; Nicholas Wheeler in Orcutt, and Zachary Wheeler in Orcutt. Judy is also survived by her brother John Eacott and wife Rosemary in Tisbury England. Judy also is survived by two of her beloved Basset hounds, Spencer and Katie.
Judy's love for life, family and friends was never-ending, and she will be greatly missed by everyone.
A memorial service will be held on Friday September 2, 2011 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Private interment to follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society
