Julia was born and raised in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania. Julia's parents emigrated from Santo Stefano DiSessanio, Italy, where her father Rosario worked in the coal mines near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. When Julia was 29 years old, she moved to Santa Barbara to live with her brother Sam and his family.

Julia will fondly be remembered by her nephews and nieces, all their children and relatives, and by all her friends at the Edgerly Apartments in Santa Barbara.
