Julie Ann Davies

(May 25, 1947 – June 27, 2025)

Julie was born in Los Angeles on May 25, 1947, to Hugh and Eleanor Davies. She grew up in Westchester and graduated from Westchester High School in 1965. After high school, Julie went to Santa Monica City College for two years, graduated, and then transferred to San Jose State as a Junior. She graduated from San Jose in 1970 with a major in Social Studies and a teaching credential. In the summer of 1970, she toured ten countries in Europe with a California Girls' Choir based in Fresno that included young women ages 19-25.

Julie began teaching for the Lompoc Unified School District in 1971, where she taught for over 40 years, retiring in 2012. She taught at Westwings School on VAFB and most of her career at Los Berros Elementary School. Her specialty was the 5th Grade GATE (gifted and talented) program. While she was teaching, she went back to school and got a Master's degree in Science and Math from Fresno Pacific.

She was very active in several organizations in the community, including being an officer in many. Those include our local California Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Club, Iota Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and her UCC church. Through the years, she was also part of and active in AAUW, the Iris Society, LOVARC… Through all these she had many friends who will miss her.

A Celebration of Life for Julie will be held on Sunday, August 3rd at 2 pm at Valley of the Flowers United Church of Christ, 3346 Constellation Road, in Vandenberg Village, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
