Obituary

Julius L. Green Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully with family in Lompoc, California on July 16th, 2021.

Julius was born in Fort Leavenworth, KS to MSgt (Retired) Julius L. Green Sr. (who preceded him in death) and Rowena Green.  Julius graduated from Victor Valley High School in June 1969 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Specialist during the Vietnam Conflict.  Julius later became a Structural Specialist for Civil Engineering, serving in various overseas assignments to include Germany and the Philippines.  One of his stateside assignments included the now decommissioned George AFB in California – Home of the 37th Tactical Fighter Wing Wild Weasels .  He retired as Master Sergeant at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc after 24 honorable years of service.

Julius had a quiet disposition, a man of few words but passionate in his beliefs and love for family.  He was a brown belt in Taekwondo, an amazing drummer, and a much-respected football/baseball coach.  He also enjoyed playing in bowling leagues and loved watching movies.

Julius is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Renate; his daughters, Jenny Moses and her husband Jeremy, Daniela Sowers and her husband Josh, and Kiomi Percy; his mother, Rowena, and sisters Olivia Green-Johnson and her husband Quinn, and Debra (Green) Bailey; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a private visitation held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary – Lompoc on August 13th, with a graveside service for family and friends at the Lompoc Cemetery at 2 pm.  Memories & condolences are welcome and can be posted at the Starbuck-Lind website .  Flowers can be sent to the mortuary.
