June Hazel Foster, a long-time resident of Lompoc, passed away peacefully Friday the 19th of December at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Born in 1937 in West Bromwich, England, June lived in that country until coming to the United States in 1961 where she met and married then Air Force Lieutenant Melvin Foster at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas in 1962. They moved with their three children to Lompoc in 1973. June later worked for the Lompoc Unified School District for over 25 years.
June loved good food and socializing, enjoyed going to concerts and plays with family and friends, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was active in many Central Coast organizations too numerous to mention.
She is survived by her husband Mel, her children Kim Foster Carlson (Mike Carlson), Michael Foster (Tara Peaty) and Claire Foster. The lights of her life were her six grandchildren Kasey, Taylor, Connor, Veronica, Daphne and Sofia.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church on Friday January 9, 2015 at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to The American Cancer Society.
